UBD Signs MoU with Hibiscus EP (Brunei) B.V. to Strengthen Academia–Industry Collaboration

JERUDONG, 14 November 2025 - Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), through its School of Business and Economics, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hibiscus EP (Brunei) B.V., marking a significant step in advancing academia–industry cooperation.
The signing ceremony, held in Kampung Jerudong in conjunction with the 5th International Conference on Business, Economics and Finance (ICBEF), was witnessed by the Guest of Honour, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister for Economy at the Ministry of Finance and Economy.
The MoU was signed by Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice-Chancellor of UBD, and Awang Mohammed Farroukh Abdul Aziz, Country Head of Hibiscus EP (Brunei) B.V.
More than a formal agreement, the MoU reflects a shared vision to foster innovation, nurture future talent, and strengthen academia–industry linkages in support of Brunei Darussalam’s national development goals. It covers key areas including joint research and development, workforce development through internships and recruitment, collaboration in seminars and conferences, as well as potential future initiatives mutually agreed by both parties.
Through this collaboration, UBD and Hibiscus EP reaffirm their commitment to advancing knowledge, driving innovation, and contributing to sustainable business development in the nation.
